FREDERICK CARLOCK, b. in 1720 in Saxony, Germany or Holland; Records show he was a constable in Augusta Co. Va. in 1747; Moved to Mecklenburg, No. Car. before 1776; his son George Carlock served in Capt. Martin Phifer's 2nd. Troop of North Carolina Light Horse Dragoons from Mecklenburg Co. in War of 1776. His name appears on various records as Carlock, Carelock, Caerlock, Cerlock and Kerlock. One son John moved to Alabama; one son Eber (Ebenezer) migrated to Union Co. Ills. and Epenetus moved to Tennessee but had no children. Samuel's descendants were found in Texas and Oklahoma. Descendants of Rebecca (Shinn), the only da. were found in Arkansas.
