    Notes
    • (1) Source: Ann Donnelly .

      (2) Sarah Elizabeth HALE is believed by the compiler to have been the daughter listed as Corrilla in the household headed by her father in the 1850 census, and the daughter listed as Camella in the household headed by her father in the 1870 census. The compiler believes that the following facts support the compiler's belief:

      • No daughter named Sarah or Mildred is listed in the household headed by her father, John A. HALE, in the 1850 or 1860 census. Sarah Mildred HALE would have reasonably been expected to be listed in the household headed by her father in those censuses, because she was then young and unmarried. Instead, a daughter supposedly named Corilla or Camella, purportedly born about the same time as Sarah Mildred, is listed in the household headed by her father in those censuses.

      • In 1869, Mildred HALE received a distribution from the estate of John A. HALE, "who was my father."

      • In 1870, Sarah M. HALE married George Washington HANCOCK.

      • In 1874, Sarah M. HANCOCK received a distribution from the estate of her grandfather, Obediah HALE, as an heir of her father, John A. HALE.

      (3) Although this matter is not free from doubt, the compiler believes that Sara Mildred HALE's nickname was Camilla.

      (4) Sarah M. HANCOCK is listed in a household headed by her son-in-law, Alonzo E. WEATHERFORD, in the 1900 census of Macon, Bibb County, GA.

Sarah M. is listed in the 1900 census as a person who was born in April 1844 and was then 56 years of age. According to the 1900 census, she was born in GA, and both of her parents were born in GA. According to the 1900 census, she was a widow who had theretofore given birth to 4 children, 2 of whom were then living.
      (5) Mildred HANCOCK is listed in a household headed by her son-in-law, Elonzo E. WEATHERFORD, in the 1920 census of Clarkesville, Habersham County, GA.

Mildred is listed in the 1920 census as a widow who was then 75 years of age; therefore, according to the 1920 census, she was born in about 1845. According to the 1920 census, she was born in GA, and both of her parents were born in GA.
      (6) Sarah M. HONSOCK is listed in a household headed by her son-in-law, Alonzo WEATHERFORD, in the 1930 census of Grayson, Gwinett County, GA. [The compiler believes that Sarah M.'s surname was really HANCOCK.]

Sarah M. is listed in the 1930 census as a widow who was then 85 years of age; therefore, according to the 1880 census, she was born in about 1845. According to the 1930 census, she was born in GA, and both of her parents were born in GA. According to the 1930 census, she was 26 years of age at her first marriage.
