  Notes	(1) Meiser, Jr., Joseph A., "A Genealogy of the Meisser Family (Meiser, Miser, Mizar, Mizer, Myser)," Revised, From the Founding in America by Immigrant Ancestors to the Present Time, Lancaster, PA : Meisser Genealogy Association, 1975, p. 163: JOHN MISER . . . , son of Henry Meiser . . . and Maria _____, was born in Mahantango Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania in 1779. He moved to Tennessee as early as 1796 since he is listed on a jury of 12 men in Blount County, in that year. In 1800 he paid taxes on 320 acres of land in Blount County. and from 1829 through 1832 he is listed on the tax records in McMinn County Tennessee. John Miser married Elizabeth Hale. John Miser . . . married Mrs. Susannah Lewis on November 5, 1840 in McMinn County, Tennessee. Tradition has it that three children were born to this marriage. The 1850 census of Bradley County, Tennessee lists a Susan Myzer, age 35, as family head, with the following children: William 16, born Tennessee (William was later identified as a grandson); Margaret 8, born Tennessee; and James 6, born Tennessee. CHILDREN: . . . [ix] Margaret Mizer, born 1842. . . . [x] James Mizer, born 1844; died 1863, Nashville, Tennessee. (Master Roll, Co. G., 3rd Reg,, East Tenn. Inf.) It has been stated that John . . . died in Benton County, Arkansas at the age of 105 after being gored by a bull while he was doing his chores in the barnyard. We have not, however, been able to find records to substantiate this claim. Census records and title to land ownership indicate John was in Bradley County, Tennessee just prior to 1850. No further records have been found on John . . . , but a son, John L. Miser, is recorded in the Benton County, Arkansas 1860 Census. (2) A household headed by John MISER is listed in the 1830 census of McMinn County, TN. Listed in John's household are 3 free white males between 10 and 15 years of age; 1 free white male between 15 and 20 years of age; 1 free white male between 50 and 60 years of age; 1 free white female between 20 and 30 years of age; and 1 free white female between 50 and 60 years of age. Assuming that John is the free white male listed in the 1830 census as then being between 50 and 60 years of age, he would have been born between 1770 and 1780, according to the 1830 census. Assuming that John's wife is the free white female listed in the 1830 census as then being between 50 and 60 years of age, she would have been born between 1770 and 1780, according to the 1830 census. Assuming that the other persons in John's household are children of John and/or his wife, those children would have consisted of 4 sons (3 of which sons would have been born between 1815 and 1820, and 1 of which sons would have been born between 1810 and 1815, according to the 1830 census) and 1 daughter (which daughter would have been born between 1800 and 1810, according to the 1830 census). (3) A household consisting solely of a Jno. MIZER is listed in the 1840 census of McMinn County, TN. Listed in this Jno.'s household is 1 free white male between 80 and 90 years of age. Since only 1 person is listed in this Jno.'s household, he must be that person. He was born between 1750 and 1760, according to the 1840 census. [Because of this Jno. MIZER's reported age, he does not appear to be the same person as the John MISER who was born in 1779.]
