Van Horn, son of John B. Van Horn . . . by his wife Elizabeth Hopper, was born 31 Jan. 1795, baptized 19 Feb. 1795 at Paramus; died 15 Aug. 1861, buried in the Ramapo Reformed Churchyard in Mahwa. He lived on the Ramapo Valley Road in Mahwah where his parents had lived. His will was dated 17 May 1861, proved 2 Sept. 1861 (Bergen T-3:638), mentioning wife Margaret; sons John, Garret H., William and Bernard; daughters Rachel and Margaret; grandchildren Nicholas and Emeline Romain (children of deceased daughter Elizabeth); grandsons Abraham Terwilleger (minor), son of daughter Charity, and Abraham Van Horn, son of son John. On 18 April 1862 Bernard Van Horn and wife Harriet, and Michael Salyer and wife Rachel, sold to Margaret, wife of Abraham Banta of New York City, 200 acres of land in Hohokus Township, "being part of the real estate of Abraham Van Horn." Abraham married 30 April 1816, Margaret Hopper, born 1 Sept. 1792, died 2 Jan. 1873, buried at Mahwah, daughter of Garret and Margaret (Wanamaker) Hopper. Children: born at Mahwah i. Garret Hopper, b. ca. 1827, aged 23 in 1850 Census; m. Mary Ellen Board. vi. Charity, b. 10 Aug. 1828, d. 24 Sept. 1850; m. Jeremiah Terwilleger. vii. William, b. 11 Oct. 1830, d. 23 Jan. 1899; m.
