Etta Mae Duncan
GILLETTE — Funeral Liturgy for Gillette resident Etta Mae Duncan, 66, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Tom Kadara. Burial will follow in Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.
She died April 9, 2002, at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, of natural causes.
She was born June 15, 1935, in Gillette, the daughter of Francis and Kathryn (Cates) Hedlund: was raised and educated in Gillette; and graduated from Campbell County High School. She then attended nursing school in Casper.
On Sept. 21, 1961, she married David Willis Duncan in Rapid City, S.D.
She traveled the world with her family in the oil business. In 1971, they returned to Gillette after being in Africa. For several years, she waitressed at the Husky truck stop and Hong Kong Restaurant. In later years. she worked as a certified nurses' assistant in home health care and at Pioneer Manor.
She loved doing crafts, bowling, reading, shopping and spending time with her children. A member of the Gillette Women's Bowling Association, she coached the Youth Bowling Association in Gillette and her children in baseball; and was a Cub Scout den mother. Survivors include three sons, Don Duncan and his wife and George Duncan and his companion, both of Gillette, and Kent Duncan of Enid, Okla.; five daughters, Becky Hague and her husband, Liz Fare and her husband and Cathy Workman and her husband, all of Gillette, Vicky Clark of Arizona and Lydia Schaffer; brother, Ron Hedlund, and sister, Iva Kay Jaeger, both of Gillette; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and adopted children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Steven Duncan; and a sister, Emma Lou Farmer.
