    • (1) John STARNES, Sr. (Abt 1752 - 1833) married Elizabeth THORNBERRY in Greene County, TN on 4 February 1793, and Susanna STARNES (Abt 1755 - 1834) married John THORNBERRY in Greene County, TN on 23 May 1793. Elizabeth THORNBERRY and John THORNBERRY were siblings of each other, and the compiler believes that John STARNES, Sr. and Susanna STARNES were also siblings of each other.

      The compiler believes that John STARNES, Sr. was a son of Thomas STARNES (Abt. 1734 - 1818), and, therefore, Susanna STARNES was a daughter of Thomas STARNES, but there can be no assurance that the compiler's belief is correct. See the information about John STARNES, Sr. and Thomas STARNES elsewhere in this database.

      (2) Some sources claim that Susannah STARNES (Abt. 1775 - 1834) was a daughter of Adam STARNS I (Abt. 1732 - Abt 1816) and Catherine CARLOCK?. The compiler has not seen any proof of this claim. That source lists the following children of Adam STARNS I:

      1. Adam Starnes [II] (born ca 1765, died ca 1832) married Susannah Meeks ca 1792. . . .

      2. Samuel Starnes married Eliza Letitia Fletcher. . . .

      3. Sarah Starnes married John Hennegar on September 8, 1791. . . .

      [Note by compiler: No daughter named Susannah is listed by that source as a daughter of Adams STARNS I.]

      (3) Some sources claim that Susanna STARNES (Abt. 1765 - 1834) was a daughter of Adam STARNS II (Abt. 1765 - Abt. 1832) and Susannah MEEKS (____- Bef. 1832), who were married to each other about 1792, approximately 17 years after Susannah STARNES was born. The compiler has not seen any proof of this claim. That source lists the following children of Adam STARNS II:

      1. Conrad Starns (born April 25, 1791, died September 6, 1842) married Sarah Ann (Sally) Hubbell (born December 23, 1793, died August 9, 1850) on June 29, 1809.

      2. B. Barnabus Starnes.

      3. Elizabeth Starnes married Holcom Bryant on November 24, 1810, in Washington County, Virginia.

      4. Millie Starnes (born October 9, 1796, died October 25, 1838) married Levi Hubble on March 12, 1816 in Washington county, Virginia. She died in Pulaski County, Kentucky.

      5. James H. Starnes married Catherine Kinder on August 1, 1831 in Grainger County, Tennessee.

      6. Nathan Starnes.

      It has been difficult to get as much information on them as we would like to have.
