      Lieutenant Colonel Spitzer was a decorated veteran of World War II. In Korea, he served with the Judge Adjutant General's Office. He died of other causes in Korea on October 30, 1950.

      For his leadership and valor, Lieutenant Colonel Spitzer was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal. . . .
