(4) http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk: Will of William Marchant, Farmer of Chiddingstone, Kent Reference: PROB 11/1536/61 Description: Will of William Marchant, Yeoman of Chiddingstone, Kent Date [proved]: 05 August 1812 Held by: The National Archives, Kew Legal status: Public Record In the Name of God Amen I William Marchant of the Parish of Chiddingstone in the County of Kent ffarmer do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say ffirst I will order and direct that all my just debts ffuneral and other necessary expences be paid and discharged by my Executor and Executrix hereinafter named out of my Personal Estate And I give and bequeath unto Dannis[?] my lawful Wife the sum of ffour hundred pounds of lawful British money and all interest due thereon which is in the hands of my Brother Robert Marchant of Boarplace in Chiddingstone aforesaid together with all my ffarming business live and dead ffarming Stock and Implements Household Goods Crops of Corn ready money and securities for money and all the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Personal Estate whatsoever wheresoever and of what nature or kind soever To have and to hold the same without molestation during her natural life And immediately or as soon as convenient after her decease I will order and direct that all the Property she shall then be possessed of / her funeral expences being first paid thereout / shall be divided in the following manner / that is to say one fifth part thereof to my deceased son John Marchant's Child or Children one fifth part to my son William Marchant or his child or children one fifth part to my deceased daughter Mary's daughter Jemima the wife of William Nye or her child or children one fifth part to the child or children of my deceased daughter Elizabeth the wife of William Seal and one fifth part to the child or children of my deceased daughter Jane the wife of Thomas Nightingale equaly and fairly share and share alike for ever And I do make constitute and appoint my son William Marchant and my Granddaughter Jemima Nye joint Executor and Executrix of this my said last Will and Testament revoking and making void all and every other Will & Testament by me at any time heretofore made In Witness whereof I have to this my said last Will and Testament set my hand and seal the twentieth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven William Marchant LS Signed sealed published and declared by the said William Marchant the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have subscribed our names as Witnesses hereto Thomas Nightingale John Gasson William Chapman
