      Christian Cornelisen Van Horn, son of Cornelis Christiansen Van Horn . . . by his wife Maria Demarest, was born 25 May 1741 in or near Closter, N.J., and baptized 31 May 1741 at Bergenfield. He lived in the old Van Horn house on the east side of the
      Schraalenburgh Road in Closter. He died 30 March 1817 aged 75/10/5, and was buried in the Reformed Churchyard at Bergenfield. His will was dated 18 July 1816 r and probated 9 April 1817 (Bergen B:125). The abstracts given in Williams and in NJW 13:447 do not agree and are both in error. In his will Christian mentioned son David; daughters Altye and Margaret; and children of deceased son Cornelius: Peter and John, and Maria wife of Abraham Westervelt; and Maria, daughter of deceased son John.

      Christian married, first, with banns dated 6 Sept. 1764 at Bergenfield (license dated 4 Dec. 1764), Aaltje Westervelt, daughter of Jan Westervelt and Jannetje Haring, born 25 Nov. 1745 at Closter, died in April 1765, without issue (Westervelt Gen. p. 28). He married, second, 18 March 1768 at Bergenfield (license dated 5 March 1768), Maria Anderson, daughter of Jan Anderson and Elizabeth Demarest, born 5 Sept, 1748, baptized 11 Dec. 1748 at Hackensack (Reformed), died 7 Oct. 1801, aged 52/1/-, buried with her husband at Bergenfield; third, 3 Aug. 1816 at Bergenfield, Maria Christie, daughter of Daniel Christie and Fytje Demarest, and widow of John Durie. She was baptized 5 April 1759 at Bergenfield, and dated her will 9 Jan. 1830, probated 25 Sept. 1830 in Rockland County, N.Y. There is no evidence of any Van Horn children by her.
