Whatley, 92, Cartwright community near Winnsboro, are scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday at Beaty Funeral Home chapel, Winnsboro, with the Revs. Lee Dickson and Tommy White officiating. Burial will be in Lee Cemetery, Winnsboro. Mr. Whatley died Sunday in a Quitman nursing home. He was born Nov. 25, 1896, in Cass county and was a retired carpenter. He was a member of Cartwright Baptist Church and a longtime resident of Cartwright. Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Mrs. Opal Whatley, Quitman; one son, Ralph Whatley, Winnsboro; one daughter, Dorothy Anderson, Winnsboro; one brother, Horace Whatley Marshall; three sisters, Myrtle Adkisson, Longview, Minnie Dunn, Marshall, and Bernice Brogdon, Quitman; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
