Birth: Nov. 27, 1823, Indiana, USA
Death: Jan. 9, 1913, Indiana, USA
Daughter of Dennis and Mariah (Andress) Holden
Obituary:
Mrs. Caroline Belton, 89 years old, one of this county's highly esteemed elderly ladies, died at her home in Boggstown last evening, January 9, 1913 from a complication of diseases incident to old age.
For the last year she had been in ill health, but not until a month ago did her condition become critical. Since that time her death has been expected at most any time and the end did not come unexpectedly.
The deceased was well known in the Acton and Brookfield communities, having spent most of her life there. She had been living for the past year at Boggstown with her daughter, Mrs. Anna McLean. Mrs. Belton was a very highly religious woman, being a member of the Baptist church at Brookfield and the last surviving charter member of the church.
She was known by her many acquaintances as a woman of lovable traits and a kind heart and the end will come as a terrible shock to all of them.
The other surviving relatives besides the daughter at whose home she died are one daughter, Mrs. Jacob Patrick, of Acton; one son, Benjamin Belton, of Wyoming, and one step-son, Neal Belton, of Acton. Mrs. Belton is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The family will have the sympathy of their many friends in their great hour of bereavement.
She was the widow of the late Robert Belton, to whom she was married in 1854, and was born in Dearborn county, Indiana, November 27, 1823. She came to Moral township, Shelby county sixty years ago and had been a resident of that part of the county ever since the death of her husband fifteen years ago spending much of her time with her children.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church in Brookfield, on Sunday morning at eleven o'clock, with the Rev. Buchanan, of Indianapolis officiating.
Interment: Acton Cemetery
