BOTHELL, WASHINGTON
Richard S. Morrison, beloved husband, father and brother, died May 24, 2017, after a short illness.
Dick was born Dec. 1, 1946, to H. K. Morrison and Eleanor Morrison in Arizona where Dick's father was stationed with the Army Air Corp. [sic] The family later moved to San Angelo, Texas where Dick's father served at Goodfellow AFB and Eleanor became owner of a children's clothing store, and later worked at GAFB.
Dick enjoyed being a member of the Boy Scouts and Kiwanis Key Club. He could whistle all the theme songs from TV shows, was a Ham Radio operator, worked on cars and homecoming floats in the driveway, and cared for the live Bobcat mascot. After graduating from Central High School, he attended San Angelo College and later joined the Army. He was stationed in Germany. After discharge from the Army, he moved to Eugene, Oregon where he met his wife, Barbara. They had one son, Michael and later moved to Bothell, Washington where their daughter, Kelly, was born. Dick was an inspiration to his children with his love of learning and interests in nature, science, sports, and politics. He worked in auto part sales for a local car dealership for 24 years before retiring in 2011.
During retirement, Dick was active in the First Legislative Democratic party and received the Chair's Award in 2015. He had a natural curiosity about many topics, was an avid reader, former Spelunker and gourmet cook. He was very handy around the house, could fix anything and built beautiful raised flower beds for the home in Bothell. Dick had a wonderful sense of humor, is greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, H. K. and Eleanor Morrison. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Michael; daughter, Kelly; sisters, Nancy Carefoot of Fort Worth and Susan Morrison of Austin, Texas; Uncle Louis Morrison of Las Vegas, Nevada; and countless friends.
Celebration of Life is at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church in Lake Forest Park, Washington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dick's memory to the Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church or the Democratic Party.
