He was reared and educated in Donavan, Mo., moved with his family to Eldon, Mo., and later Potosi, Mo. He entered the U.S. Army in May 1944, and served with the infantry in France during World War II. He was discharged in August 1945, and received a bronze star and a purple heart. He married Merlin F. Mattox, June 17, 1954, in Marsing. They lived in the Huston community for 29 years where he worked in the orchards and packing sheds at the Pugsley, Falen and George Smith Fruit Ranches. He had worked for the J.R. Simplot Company for the past 24 years. He was a member of Teamster Local 670, and DAV Chapter 13. He is survived by his wife of Nampa; three daughters, Cheryl Ann, Nampa, Terri Lynne, Nampa, and Cindy Atkins, Caldwell; two brothers, Carl Hubbard and Gale Hubbard, Potosi, Mo.; a sister, LaVeta Hurst, Blythe, Calif. ; a granddaughter, Jessica Dawn Hubbard, Nampa; two grandsons, Timothy and Dustin Atkins, Caldwell; and several nieces and nephews.
