      Moorman Ballard of Greene County, Tennessee.

      Born 10 March 1747. On 12 September 1772, at Cedar Creek Monthly Meeting. Moorman Ballard, Judith Douglass, David Ballard & Elizabeth Bunch, Camp Creek Meeting, dismissed for married contrary to discipline by a priest; in 10th month [October] parents of the women clear themselves of consent. Hinshaw, Vol. VI, p. 228 (it is not clear who married whom).

      On 11 April 1778 at Cedar Creek Monthly Meeting, Moorman Ballard is condemned for misconduct for which he stood disowned, but he presented a certificate from Tom's Creek Friends in North Carolina, is reinstated and granted certificate to that Monthly Meeting. Hinshaw, Vol. VI, p. 228. Yet on 29 August 1778, the New Garden Monthly Meeting receives Moorman Ballard on certificate from Cedar Creek Monthly Meeting, Hanover Co. Virginia dated 11 April 1778. Hinshaw, Vol. I, p. 524.

      Later, on 27 March 1802, Morman Ballard is appointed recorder at the New Hope Monthly Meeting in Greene County, Tennessee [this monthly meeting was organized 1795]. Hinshaw, Vol. I, p. 1089.

      On 21 July 1804, at New Hope Monthly Meeting, Morman & his wife Minerva and their children are granted certificate to Miami Monthly Meeting in Ohio. Hinshaw, Vol. I, p. 1089.

      [ii] Enoch, b. 25 April 1774. On 21 July 1804 at New Hope Monthly Meeting, Enoch Ballard is dismissed for having married contrary to discipline. Hinshaw, Vol. I, p. 1089.

      [iv] Elizabeth, b. 28 June 1778. On 11 October 1800 at New Hope Monthly Meeting, Elizabeth Ballard, daughter of Moorman and Minerva Ballard, married John Haworth at New Hope Meeting House. Hinshaw, Vol. I, p. 1089.
