The name in which he immigrated to this country from Germany was Gerhard H. Sandker, arrived in Baltimore, MD in 1833 at the age of 16 years. He married Malinda Mays [Melinda J. Mayo] in Boone County, Missouri on 17 November 1853. * * * The 1850 census of Boone County shows that Melinda Mayo, daughter of Jane Mayo (who was the wife of David Phillippe) was 12 years old [born 1838] at that time which would have made her 15 when she married Garrett Sandker. There appears to be an error in the headstone date when it was etched into the stone, the date was probably provided by one of the descendants of Melinda. Thank you for the notification Mr. Much.
