(2) Obituary, unknown newspaper, unknown date: Carl David Frost Killed in Action Word was received here yesterday of the first local boy to be killed in action in the Korean War, Carl David Frost, 18, son of Mrs. Nelreatha Frost Chambers of California. Mrs. Chambers was notified Sept. 12 by the government that he had been killed in action. Carl enlisted with the army in Oakland, California in July 1949 and received his training at Fort Ord, Calif., and from there he was sent to Hawaii. In July of this year he was sent to Korea with the Fifth Infantry. He was born February 9, 1932 at Cottage Grove and attended the local elementary schools while making his home with his grandmother, Mrs. J. W. Glass. He was a member of the Assembly of God church in Cottage Grove. Surviving besides his mother and grandmother, Mrs. Glass, are one brother Frederick Frost of Cottage Grove; one sister Marjorie; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred M Frost, Cottage Grove; two uncles, Joe and George Glass, both of Cottage Grove, and one aunt of Oakland, Calif.
