      Will 16 Nov. 1694, proved 12 Mar. 1694/5; to be buried between his two wives Rebecca and Joanna who [he says with comfortable assurance] are fallen asleep in Jesus and gone to Heaven before me; I feel that the gospel is going from New England for the neglect and contempt it hath found here; sons Stephen, Joseph, Ebenezer, Benjamin; dau. Whiting.

      Joseph Bishop, Exec'r of father's will, set out land, 18 Oct. 1695, to Mr. Joseph Whiting of Southampton, in consideration of legacy due him from will of my father Bishop.

      Bishop, (Rev.) John. (Page 77.) It was his dau. REBECCA who m. Rev. Joseph Whiting; he gave a receipt in 1695 for portion due to my wife Rebecca according to the will of her father Mr. John Bishop dec'd. In 1718, Joseph Whiting of Southampton, Clerk, conveyed to son Joseph Whiting of Stamford, two pieces of land bounded on Bishop land. Rebecca (Bishop) Whiting d. at Southampton, 26 Apr. 1726 ae. 63 yrs. 2 mos. (g. s.).

      REV. JOHN BISHOP, of Stamford, Conn., married first, REBECCA GOODYEAR, born [say 1626], and second, JOANNA (BOYSE) (PRUDDEN) WILLETT, daughter of Rev. John Boyse of Halifax, co. York, England, and widow first of Rev. Peter Prudden of Milford, Conn., and second of Capt. Thomas Willett.

      The will of Rev. John Bishop, dated 16 Nov. 1694, proved 12 Mar. 1694/5, requested that he be buried between his two wives Rebecca and Joanna "who are fallen asleep in Jesus and gone to Heaven before me"; [and mentioned] sons Stephen, Joseph, Ebenezer, and Benjamin, daughter Whiting.

      In one of his letters to Rev. Increase Mather, Mr. Bishop wrote that he had had eight sons, of whom four survived.
