      (2) A household headed by Elizabeth BENTLEY is listed in the 1830 census of Circleville, Pickaway County, OH.

Listed in Elizabeth's household are 1 free white female between 5 and 10 years of age; 1 free white female between 15 and 20 years of age; and 1 free white female between 40 and 50 years of age.

Assuming that Elizabeth is the free white female listed in the 1830 census as then being between 40 and 50 years of age, she would have been born between 1780 and 1790, according to the 1830 census.

Assuming that the other persons in Elizabeth's household are children of Elizabeth, those children would have consisted of 2 daughters (1 of which daughters would have been born between 1820 and 1825, and 1 of which daughters would have been born between 1810 and 1815, according to the 1830 census).

      (3) A household headed by Elizabeth BENTLEY is listed in the 1840 census of Circleville, Pickaway County, OH.

[Note by compiler: Elizabeth was born in 1781, and would have been about 59 years of age at the time of the 1840 census. Elizabeth had 5 daughters, namely, Caroline H. (who was born about 1813, and would have been about 27 years of age at the time of the 1840 census), Elizabeth Ann (who was born about 1815, and would have been about 25 years of age at the time of the 1840 census), Margaret (who was born about 1818, and would have been about 22 years of age at the time of the 1840 census), Lydia Ann (who was born 12 August 1820, and would have been about 20 years of age at the time of the 1840 census) and Emily W. (who was born 23 December 1822, and would have been about 18 years of age at the time of the 1840 census).]

Listed in Elizabeth's household are 1 free white female between 5 and 10 years of age; 1 free white female between 15 and 20 years of age; 1 free white female between 20 and 30 years of age; and
1 free white female between 50 and 60 years of age.

Elizabeth must have been the free white female listed in the 1840 census as then being between 50 and 60 years of age. She was born between 1780 and 1790, according to the 1840 census.]

The free white female listed in the 1840 census as then being between 5 and 10 years of age was then too young to have been a daughter of Elizabeth.

Assuming that the other persons in Elizabeth's household are children of Elizabeth, those children would have consisted of 2 daughters (1 of which daughters would have been born between 1820 and 1825, and 1 of which daughters would have been born between 1810 and 1820, according to the 1840 census).

      (4) A household headed by Elizabeth BENTLEY is listed in the 1850 census of Circleville, Pickaway Township, OH. [Her surname is listed as BINKLEY in the index to the 1850 census.]

Listed with Elizabeth is her son-in-law, Henry H. ROBBINS, a blacksmith who was then 27 years of age; therefore, according to the 1850 census, he was born in about 1823. According to the 1850 census, he was born in OH.

Death of Mrs. Elizabeth Bentley. -

Mrs. Elizabeth Bentley died at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. H. N. Robbins, in this city, on Wednesday evening last, the 22d inst. Mrs. Bentley is supposed to have been the oldest continuous inhabitant of this place, having resided here for fifty-seven years.

The maiden name of deceased was Elizabeth Hollenback. She was born in Hampshire county, Va., October 10, 1781, and was, consequently, in the 92d year of her age, at the time of her death. Arriving at womanhood, she was married to Major John B. Bentley, who participated in the war of 1812, and together with her husband removed to Ohio in 1815, locating at Circleville. Her husband died in 1826 - forty-six years ago - and she remained a widow during that time.

She was one of a family of fourteen children, but one of whom is now living, and was the oldest person in Circleville, with one exception.

During the past few years, she was frequently prostrated by failing health incident to old age, and for almost two years preceding her death, was constantly confined to her bed.

Her remains were interred in Forest Cemetery on Friday last, a large number of our people being in attendance. The deceased was known for her many virtues, and was highly respected by all with whom she came in contact during her earthly sojourn.
