      William J. Myers (1830-1907), a shoemaker, living "one mile north of town on the pike," came to Fulton Co Ind from Summit Co Ohio.

      He was (1st) m. to Lovina Coleman (1830 - September 22, 18967 [sic; should be 1896] (see Rochester Sentinel, Fri. Sept. 25, 1896, obit: Lovina Coleman). Mr. Myers had left his wife in the kitchen to peel some potatoes for supper while he cut corn. He returned in about an hour, and found her burned to death - her clothing having caught fire. She was 66 years old and the mother of Leroy Myers, the barber, and of Allan Myers, the carpenter.

      Wm. J. Myers (2nd) m. November 19, 1897, Louisa Hicks, sis of Hiram & John Carithers. Louisa, b. ca. 1835 Ind, d. 1912, age 77 years, and was first m. to Henry Hicks, March 3, 1872 (1833-1894) (See: W. C. & J. C. Tombaugh, Fulton Co., Ind. Marriages 1836-1983; also see Rochester Sentinel, Fri. March 2, 1894, obit: Harry Hicks) Henry Hicks, an Elglishman [sic], came to this country about twenty-six years ago (ca. 1868) and first located in Cass Co Ind; later, by 1870, removing to Liberty Twp Fulton Co Ind; and by 1880 he and Louisa were in Rochester Twp (Census). He located on a farm near Green Oak. He and his
      wife had an adopted dau. His death at age 56 yrs, was by suicide, on "Tuesday".

      No obituary was found for Louisa (Carithers) Hicks Myers. There was, however, a funeral notice (Rochester Sentinel, Wed., June 26, 1912, Mt. Olive neighborhood), stating that Mr. & Mrs. Henry Newcomb and dau, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Carrithers and sons, Mr. & Mrs. Chas. Flora and Frank Carrithers, attended their aunt??s funeral, Louisa Myers.

      No obit was found for Wm. J. Myers, husband of Louisa. However, his will, (Fulton Co Ind Will Book "D", p. 399, Oct. 16, 1905 / Sept 7, 1907) names his wife, Louisa Myers, and "my four children"; Mrs. Ella Miller, Mrs. Emma Beehler, Leroy Myers and Allen Myers.

      Concerning the children of Wm. J. Myers:

      (1) Ella M., 1855-1915, m. G. W. Millelr [sic]; (2) Emma Sopha, b. 1858, d. 1930; m. (1st) James T. Gray (1857-1894), and had two children born: Pearl Gray, 1883, and Clara Gray, 1885. Emma Sopha (Myers) Gray m. (2nd), January 27, 1901, Rudolph Buehler (Fulton Co Ind M.R.). Rochester Sentinel, Fri., Nov. 9, 1906, obit, "Rudolph Buehler" died "last night" at his residence seven miles west of town; born in Seneca Co Ohio, August 28, 1854, son of Geo. & Mary, and died November 8, 1906, age 52; m. (1st) December 1886, Mary Plantz, who died January 14, 1900, leaving two daus: Carrie & Iness [sic]: m. (2nd) in January 1901, Emma S. Gray. Surviving him: his wife, and 4 daughters: Carrie, Iness [sic], Mrs. Pearl Halterman, Mrs. Clarance [sic] Gray, Maggie Gray, his father and five bros & 3 sisters. (3) Leroy Benmjamin [sic] Myers, b. 1859 Summit Co Ohio, d. 1942, m. December 9, 1880, Amanda Zackman (1859-1929), and had children: Geo. W., 1897-1913, and Tessa P., d. January 2, 1889, age 5y-6m-28d. (Fulton Co Ind M.R.). (4) Allen Myers, (dates unkn), a carpenter. . . .
