  Notes	(1) There is substantial confusion as to how Peter's surname was spelled. In his marriage record, his surname is spelled BYLER. In the 1840 through 1880 censuses, his name is spelled BOILER, BILER, BEILER, BILER and BEILOR. In the 1900 census, his widow's surname is spelled BEYLER. Most of his children appear to have gone by the name BEYLER. In the obituary of another person, described below, his name is spelled BEYLER. (2) According to the obituary of Daniel RINGLE, Jr., which appeared in the December 22, 1893 issue of The Bremen Enquirer: "In the fall of 1835 the deceased, in company with Peter Beyler set out for the wild west from Stark county, Ohio." (3) A household headed by Peter BOILER is listed in the 1840 census of Marshall County, IN. Listed in Peter's household are 1 free white male between 20 and 30 years of age; and 1 free white female between 15 and 20 years of age.
