Hughes, a retired maintenance contractor for Catholic University, died of cancer yesterday in a Silver Spring rest home. Mrs. Hughes, a native of Washington, was married in 1914. She and her husband lived at 4118 Illinois Ave. NW for 42 years. He died Dec. 30, 1956. Mrs. Hughes is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Walter C. Hughes Jr., of Silver Spring, and Mrs. Elliott C. Nohr, of Canoga Park, Calif.; a sister, Anne V. Quayle of Miami, Fla., and two brothers, Frank Bentley Sr., of Silver Spring, and Charles J. Bentley of Newport News, Va. A requiem mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Grant Circle NW, with burial in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
