      FRANK LESTER GREENWOOD

      Frank was born November 5, 1933 in Bolivar, Missouri, the son of John Lester and Leona Pearl (Clyde) Greenwood. The family of 8 children grew up in southern Iowa parsonages. He graduated from Simpson College, Indianola, IA with a BA and from Boston University, Boston, MA with a Master of Sacred Theology.

      Frank married Margaret McFarland on September 20, 1958 in Boston, MA. Margaret died March 27, 1987. He then married Priscilla Ann Beal Bair on February 14, 1988 in Waverly, IA. He retired in 1995 after 39 years of service in the Iowa Annual Conference.

      A highlight of his ministry centered around young people as he took them on countless trips to mission stations, high adventure trips in the Canadian waters, and the Appalachian Service Projects. As a member of the Conference Board of Evangelism, he served on the Bishop??s committee planning Iowa??s first Holy Spirit Conference in 1974. Men??s Bible studies were very dear to his heart and the highlight of each week. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at his cabin on the Boone River.

      Frank died on April 27, 2007 in a boat accident that took his life and also the life of his brother, John. He was 73 years old. A memorial service was held on May 5, 2007 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Webster City, IA with Rev. Peter Peterson officiating. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla, Webster City, IA; daughters, Diane Muir and Carol Oduaran, Omaha, NE; son, James, Firth, NE; step-sons, David Bair, Littleton, CO and Philip Bair, Evergreen, CO; sister, Doris Lisle, Iowa City, IA; brother, Arthur, Clarinda, IA; 4 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren.
