BISHOP PEARCE BUTTRAM . . . , son of Elijah H. Buttram . . . and Nancy E. Miser . . . , was born January 20, 1860 at Pea Ridge, Arkansas. On September 4, 1881 he married Mary Lawson, daughter of George Lawson and Nancy Warren. She was born March 23, 1860. George Lawson was killed in the Service during the Civil War.
Bishop farmed in Benton County, Arkansas but later was in the lumber business near Raymond, Washington. In 1930 he returned to Miami, Oklahoma, and in 1931 he wrote the following to his sister, Phebe A. Bantam Webb Price . . . : "This is the hardest time in all the time I have lived.
