Opie Lindsay, like his father, Robert Lindsay, did not follow the sacred calling of the ministry. It is highly probable that the difficult educational (especially ecclesiastical) advantages of his day were meagre, making such a profession to his eyes impracticable, or the life of the planter was more to his liking; he lived and died a planter of Northumberland, married and had a son Robert, than making the second of the name and of whom I speak, later on.
