By C.G. NIEBANK
Staff Writer
A former Enid resident was struck and killed early Thursday near Rochester, N.Y., by a driver police later arrested for driving under the influence.
Larry B. Hale, 35, was struck about 1:30 a.m. as he walked south-bound in the right lane of Interstate 590 in Brighton, N.Y., a suburb of Rochester, according to a Monroe County, N.Y. Sheriff's Department report.
Hale was on his way to work at the U.S. Post Office when he apparently abandoned his station wagon on the shoulder of the highway.
Authorities found Hale's car with the hood partially raised.
Deputies said Hale may have decided to walk for assistance when he was struck and thrown into the center of three lanes.
Charles Demino, 35, of Rochester, was the driver of the car that struck Hale. Demino was later arrested for driving under the influence.
He is survived by his wife Nina and his four sons, Jared, 11; Benjamin, 8; Andrew, 5; and Timothy, 3.
