      Paul O. Barts

      Paul O. BARTS, 47, former Rochester businessman, died at 5 a.m. Sunday in Robert Long hospital in Indianapolis, wehre he had been a patient for the past four weeks. Mr. Barts had been ill for four years.

      He was a resident of Frankfort. Before moving to Frankfort he lived in Lawrence and Rochester.

      For many years, Mr. Barts, two brothers and their father owned and operated the Rochester Fertilizer and Feed company on U.S. 31 north of the city. Prior to that they operated the old fertilizer plant on the Olson road northwest of Rochester.

      Mr. Barts was born May 17, 1915 at Plymouth to Joseph and Ella MANUWAL BARTS. He married Othelia Jane MOW on Feb. 27, 1937 in Logansport.

      Mr. Barts was the manager of the Reagan Elevator near Frankfort. He was a member of the First Methodist church of Frankfort, a veteran of World War II, in the U.S. Army European theatre, a member of the Leroy Shelton American Legion Post of Rochester, a member of the Rochester I.O.O.F. lodge No. 47, a former member of the Rochester Lions club and the Lawrence Lions club. He also was a director of the Frankfort Boys club and a member of the board of directors of the Frankfort First Methodist church.

      Surviving besides the wife at home are one son, Philip [BARTS], age 14; one brother, Ralph BARTS, R.R. 2, Rochester; several nieces and nephews. One sister and a brother preceded in death.

      Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Rochester E.U.B. chuch with Dr. Frank GREER and the Rev. Kenneth FOULKE officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. The Rochester I.O.O.F. lodge will conduct graveside services.

      Friends may call after 7 p.m. today and until noon Wednesday at the Foster & Good funeral home and at the church one hour before services.
