      Rebecca Frost was born 8 June, 1779, in Newberry District. She died 21 September, 1856, in Williamson County, Tennessee. She was married to Deason Knight. Their children were Mary Knight, who married John Milton Little; Nancy A. Knight, who never married; and Rhoda Knight, who married first Hardy Gatlin and second a man named Hampton. Rebecca (Frost) Knight was buried on the farm of her brother, John Frost.

      Item number 938. Newberry District. November Term 1806. Rebecca Frost vs George Marshall.

      This was an action on the case brought by Rebecca Frost against George Marshall to recover damages for promising her marriage, seducing her, and marrying another. Plea not guilty.

      It appeared in evidence on the part of the Plaintiff that the Defendant George Marshall applyed to James Copeland, the brother in law of the Plaintiff with whom she then lived the Father & Mother being dead, and asked his leave an consent to court the Plaintiff, and not doubting but his intentions were honorable and that he would marry her if he obtained her affections he gave his consent and approbation and advised the plaintiff to receive his addresses that he also applied to John Frost and Sarah Williams the brother and sister of the plaintiff informed them of his intentions of courting the plaintiff and asked their consent, which they likewise granted, believing him to be sincere and esteeming him a worth young man advised the plaintiff to accept of his addresses. One of the witnesses Sarah Williams proved that she heard the plaintiff and defendant in conversation relative to his engagement with her, when the plaintiff solicited him to preform [sic] his promise, and not to receive her, and that Defendant assured her that she might not be uneasy that it was his intention to marry her and that he would have no other woman. That he continued his addresses for a considerable length of them [?] and then married a Miss Miles, and in five or six months after the Plaintiff had an illegitimate child. Several witnesses were called who proved that the Plaintiff had always supported a fair, virtuous and chaste character until that period and except in that instance has continued to conduct herself with decency untill [sic] this time, upon this the plaintiff close her evidence. And his honor ordered a nonsuit Stating that the Evidence offered was not sufficient to support the action.

      The plaintiff gives notice that she will move at the constitutions court to set aside the nonsuit upon the following round.

      That the evidence offered was sufficient to support the action and that his Honor ought not to have ordered a nonsuit.

      Motion discharged.
