Colonel Reuben [Lindsay] of Albemarle county . . . married twice; by his first wife, Mildred, daughter of Colonel John Walker of "Bellvough" in Albemarle, he had two daughters, Sarah and Mildred. The first married her cousin, Captain James Lindsay, elder son of Daniel Lindsay; the second married James Waddell, son of the famous blind preacher of Virginia. By his second wife, who was Hannah Tedwell of Essex county, Virginia, he had three children, viz.: William, who died young, Elizabeth and Maria. Elizabeth married Mr. Gordon of the fine old family of this name in Albemarle, by whom she had two sons, Captain Charles H. Gordon of Fauquier county, and Mason Gordon, lawyer, Charlottesville, Albemarle county, Virginia. Both are married and have families. Maria married Meriweather Lewis Walker of Albemarle county, by whom she had three children, viz.: Isabella, Mrs. Doctor P. H. Gilmer, now a widow and a resident of the "Louise Home" in Washington, D. C.; Thomas L. Walker, M. D., of Lynchburgh, Virginia; and General Reuben Lindsay Walker, now Superintendent of Construction, State Capitol Board, Austin, Texas.
