BERNICE KORSHAK OBITUARY
August 7, 1919 - September 29, 2017
Forever Young Bernice "Bee" Stewart Korshak passed away peacefully at the age of 98 at her home in Beverly Hills, California on September 29, 2017. She was surrounded by close friends and family. Bernice Stewart was born on August 7, 1919 to parents Ethel Granger Stewart and Omar Stewart in Alamo, Nevada. She and her family, including her two older sisters, moved to Los Angeles where she attended Hollywood High and Los Angeles City College. Bee was an actress and model before moving to New York where she was an ice skater and dancer at the St. Regis. She met labor attorney Sidney Roy Korshak, whom she married on August 17, 1943. Sidney and Bee moved to Chicago and raised their two boys, Harry Stuart Korshak and Stuart Rand Korshak, before Sidney's work brought them to Los Angeles where Bee and Sidney adopted their young granddaughter Kathryn Korshak Cathey at age 5, whom they raised into adulthood. Bee was a homemaker, interior designer and socialite. She was a trusted and loyal friend, a vivacious and outgoing hostess, an avid traveler and a tennis player. She, over a lifetime, deeply loved her ten dogs. She considered her friends her family and always had a friend or family member visiting or living in her home. Bee was a pleasure to be around. She never said an unkind word about anyone, and had a quick-witted humorous remark that she delivered with a glass of champagne or red wine in hand. She is survived by her loving family of two sons (Stuart and Harry) and one daughter (Kate), her two daughters-in-law (Louise Korshak and Victoria Korshak), her son-in-law Michael Cathey, five grandchildren (Lauren, Mark, Joanna, Charlotte, and Alex), and four great grandsons (Dashiell Cathey, David Korshak, Oliver and Jack Kittel). In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donors donate to the Anne Douglas Center for Homeless Women (310 Winston Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013), The Barbara Sinatra Childrens Center for Abused Children (39000 Bob Hope Drive, Rancho Mirage, CA 92270), or the charity of their choice.
