    • (1) There was a William Alexander McCLINTIC who has been sometimes confused with this William McCLINTOCK. William Alexander McCLINTIC married Nancy SHANKLIN, supposedly migrated to Virginia in 1763, and died in Bath County, VA in 1801. The compiler does not know whether there was any relationship between the two men.
