      (4) Aulbach, Louis F., "Buffalo Bayou - An Echo of Houston's Wilderness Beginnings - The Frost Family Legacy" <http://www.hal-pc.org/~lfa/BB48.html>:

John M. Frost was born to Jonathan Frost and Mary Benson Frost on January 27, 1775 in South Carolina. His father, unfortunately, served on the Loyalist side during the American Revolution and after the war, his property was confiscated. The loss of his property caused the family to struggle in near poverty as John grew up. In 1802, John M. Frost, at age 27, married Rhoda Miles in South Carolina, and then, he moved his family to Tennessee, to an area known as Brentwood.

Brentwood, located ten miles south of Nashville, had been settled in the late 1700's by veterans of the Revolutionary War, and Frost established his home, known as Cottonport, on the Old Smyrna Road. The Frost homestead became the original site of business activity in the community, and the general store, the grist mill and the post office were located there.

In 1812, John M. Frost served as a captain in the War of 1812 under Andrew Jackson. Frost later served as a captain in the Tennessee militia. The military career of their father certainly inspired the adult Frost sons, as perhaps, did the wave of patriotism that the call from Texas inspired in many men in Kentucky and Tennessee. The reward of land, especially the large quantity of land offered for service in the Texas army, clinched the deal. Three of John M. Frost's sons, Jonathan, Samuel and James, set out for Texas.

      (6) A household headed by John FROST, Sr. is listed in the 1830 census of Williamson County, TN. [John FROST, Sr. is listed in the index to the 1830 census as John FORST, Sr.]

Listed in John, Sr.'s household are 1 free white male between 5 and 10 years of age; 1 free white male between 15 and 20 years of age; 1 free white male between 50 and 60 years of age; 2 free white females between 10 and 15 years of age; 1 free white female between 15 and 20 years of age; and 1 free white female between 50 and 60 years of age.

Assuming that John, Sr. is the free white male listed in the 1830 census as then being between 50 and 60 years of age, he would have been born between 1770 and 1780, according to the 1830 census.

Assuming that John, Sr.'s wife is the free white female listed in the 1830 census as then being between 50 and 60 years of age, she would have been born between 1770 and 1780, according to the 1830 census.

Assuming that the other persons in John, Sr.'s household are children of John, Sr. and/or his wife, those children would have consisted of two sons (one of which sons would have been born between 1820 and 1825, and one of which sons would have been born between 1810 and 1815, according to the 1830 census) and three daughters (two of which daughters would have been born between 1815 and 1820, and one of which daughters would have been born between 1810 and 1815, according to the 1830 census).

Listed near John, Sr.'s household in the 1830 census are households headed by John FROST, Jr. and Jonathan FROST. [John FROST, Jr. is listed in the index to the 1830 census as John FRIST, Jr.] The compiler is not certain how John FROST, Sr. was related to John FROST, Jr. or Jonathan FROST.
