      Notes for WILLIAM ALBERTO HARBISON:

William Alberto Harbison was born about 1800 in Lincoln County, North Carolina and died about 1844 in Meigs County, Tennessee. He moved from Grainger County, Tennessee to Meigs County, Tenn. . . .

William Alberto had an son out of wedlock with Margaret Ikerd in Lincoln Co., N.C. in 1824. His name was Marcus A. Harbinson/Harverson. [Bastardy bond, North Carolina State Archives, Raleigh, N.C.]

Marcus left his first family and went to the Civil War ending up in Haywood County, North Carolina and marrying Annie Z. Williams where he had his second family. . . .

William Alberto never married Margaret Ikerd. She married Mathias Poovey (Bovey) Jr. in Lincoln County in 1845. It is known that she had at least one other child out of wedlock and possibly two. Marcus has half brothers and sisters from this marriage as well as half brothers and sisters from his father William Alberto and Nancy Starnes.

William Alberto married Nancy Starns in 1826 and was in Grainger County by 1830.

He seemed to have been in Rhea County before going to Grainger County then coming back to Meigs County after that. . . .

It appears William Alberto moved from Grainger Co. around 1832 or 1833 . . . and went to Meigs County, Tenn., where he died.

William was a road hand. He worked for John Nelson, overseer of the road from McDaniels ferry to Jacob Prilamons, from 1839 to 1842. William had seven [children] in the school book records in Meigs County, Tenn. In 1844, William was on a county list of delinquent tax debtors. His death was between 1844 and 1850. . . .
