      a. Jacob Hise (born ca 1783).

      b. Mary Etta Hise (born April 10, 1784, died 1875) married John Starnes (born March 6, 1779, died December 20, 1855) on July 20, 1802 (bond) in Cabarrus County, North Carolina.

      c. Son ? (born ca 1785, died prior to 1800).

      d. Margaret Hise (born ca 1786) married Emanuel Rose.

      e. Elizabeth Hise (born ca 1790) married Joshua Fincher (born ca 1789).

      f. Sarah (Sally) Hise (born ca 1795, died ca 1831) married John A. Limbaugh on May 9, 1813 (bond) in Burke County, North Carolina.

      g. George W.B. Hise (born ca 1798, died 1861) married (1st) _____, and (2d) Mary Matuson Gates (born ca 1821) on September 30, 1838.

NOTE: George Hise was born in Rowan County, North Carolina ca 1755, and migrated with his father to Washington County, Virginia in 1772. He entered land in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina on March 1, 1779. They remained in Mecklenburg/Cabarrus County until 1806 when they moved to Burke County. The name Starringer is a frequently used corruption of Starnes. Peter Starnes and John Starnes are listed in an estate record from 1775 in Mecklenburg County as "Starringer". The identification of Catherine's parentage hinges on which branches of the Starnes family were living in Mecklenburg County in 1780. It is assumed that a young woman would have been living with her parents, and not by herself. The records of Mecklenburg County indicate that Adam Starnes and Thomas Starnes may have still been living in that county in 1780. The families of Joseph and Leonard Starnes had already moved back to Virginia at that time. This person would be of the third generation.
