(2) O'Dell, Cecil, Pioneers of Old Frederick County, Virginia, Marceline, MO: Walsworth Publishing Company, 1995, pp. 234-235:
Lewis [Neill] willed the other half (308 acres) of this 616 acres to his son Joseph Neill. John Hisor was renting the 616 acres at the time of the will and Steven Jones was living on Joseph's willed 308 acres. Joseph also was willed 311 acres that his father bought on 9 December 1767 from Jacob and Samuel Camperlin for 265 pounds. This land is located approximately two miles east of Berryville on Virginia Highway 7 at Webbtown. Lewis bequeathed 241 acres to Joseph, land which had been purchased on 3 May 1767 from Edward Griffith/Griffey for 186 pounds. This tract is located adjacent east of Interstate 81 and adjacent east of the southern section of John Calvert's 850-acre 1735 patent land . . . on Buffalo Lick Run (a branch of Opequon Creek) with U.S. Highway 522 crossing the east corner. Joseph inherited 482 acres of land that his father had purchased on 5 November 1771 from Samuel Pritchard for 700 pounds. On 2 December 1753, Pritchard purchased this 482 acres (consisting of three different tracts) from Gabriel Jones and his wife Margaret. Jones received a Fairfax grant for a 138-acre tract contained in the 482-acre tract on 20 June 1751. This tract is located on the north and east side of Opequon Creek about one mile south of Virginia Highway 37 on Frederick County Highway 628 (Middle Road). He purchased the second tract of 172 acres (where Jones formerly lived) from Abraham Wiseman who had purchased it from Jost Hite. This tract is located adjacent west of the 138-acre tract and west of Opequon Creek. . . . Jones purchased the third tract consisting of 172 acres from John Wood-fin. James Robinson, son, heir-at-law and executor of Francis Robinson, had sold the land to Woodfin. Robinson had been sold the land by Peter Marsh, who had purchased it from Abraham Wiseman. Wiseman had purchased the tract from Jost Hite.. . . This third tract is located west of Opequon Creek and adjacent west of the 138 acres north of County Highway 628.
