      June 14, 1852, Lunenburg County Court:

      Beverly Frost was charged with comitting a breach of the peace on the body of Benjamin Featherstone within the last six months.

      June 13, 1853, Lunenburg County Court:

      Beverly Frost pleads not guilty but the jury finds him guilty of the above mentioned offense, and he is fined five dollars, which the Court orders him to pay to the board of the literary fund.

      November 14 1859, Lunenburg County Court:

      Paternity suit brought against Beverly Frost

      William T. Gary a Justice of the Peace for this County having this day returned on examination of Martha Wilson of this County, a single woman taken before him in writing upon oath. Upon which examination the said Martha Wilson charged Beverly R. Frost with being the father of his bastard child, and this said Justice also returned a warrant opened by him upon application made to him by her, the said Martha Wilson, for the apprehension of the said Frost together with a recognizance returned by the said Frost when brought before him to appear here, to abide and perform such orders as the Court shall make concerning the same. Whereupon the said Beverly R. Frost appeared accordingly, and the said Martha Wilson, being sworn and examined, and the said Frost being sworn. This statement weighed, the Court upon the whole circumstances of the case doth adjudge the said Beverly R. Frost to be the father of the said bastard child and that the said child is likely to become chargeable to the County. Therefore it is ordered that the said Beverly R. Frost be charged with the annual payment of 10 dollars to the overseer of the poor of said County for the space of seven years from this day if the child should live so long, and that the said B. R. Frost pay the same accordingly to them at the end of each year until the expiration of the said seven years. And therein from the said Beverly R. Frost and James Neal, Jno. A. Stokes, W. Cheatham, Geo. W. Hardy, Jno. T. Dowdy, J. A. Johns, B. E. Ward, Isaac Taylor, Wm. L. Bradshaw, his sureties, came into Court and acknowledged themselves to be jointly and severally indebted to the Commonwealth in the sum of 140 dollars of their respective goods, chattels, lands and tenements to be levied and to the said Commonwealth rendered; yet upon this condition that if the said Beverly R. Frost shall perform the above order of Court against him as aforesaid then this obligation to be said also to remain in full force.

However, in the in the 1860 census of the County Poorhouse of Lunenburg County, VA, Mary A. WILLSON, who was then 1 year of age, is listed with her mother, Martha WILLSON. Mary A. WILLSON was evidently the illegitimate child who was fathered by Beverly FROST.]

      22nd Battalion, Virginia Infantry

      Overview: 22nd Infantry Battalion [also called 2nd Battalion] was organized with six companies of the 2nd Regiment Virginia Artillery. It served in Field's, Heth's, and H.H. Walker's Brigade, and fought with the Army of Northern Virginia from Cedar Mountain to Cold Harbor, then was involved in the Petersburg siege south of the James River. On December 22, 1864, the battalion was disbanded and its members distributed among other Virginia commands. It reported 7 casualties at Cedar Mountain, 22 at Second Manassas, 27 at Fredericksburg, and 29 at Chancellorsville. Ten percent of the 237 engaged at Gettysburg were disabled. The field officers were Lieutenant Colonels James C. Johnson and Edward P. Tayloe, and Major John S. Bowles.

      1st Regiment, Virginia Reserves (Fairnholt's)

      Overview: 1st Regiment Reserves was organized in August, 1864, by consolidating Fainholt's and Averett's Battalions Virginia Reserves which had just been formed. With 318 effectives the unit was assigned to General J. A. Walker's Brigade, Department of North Carolina and Southern Virginia, and was posted at High Bridge, Mattoax, and the Staunton River Bridge. Then in February, 1865, it was on duty at Clover Depot, Richmond and Danville Railroad, and contained 17 officers and 206 men. Later the regiment was transferred to General P. T. Moore's Brigade in the Department of Richmond. During the Appomattox Campaign most of its members were captured at Sayler's Creek. The field officers were Colonel Benjamin L. Farinholt, Lieutenant Colonel Thomas T. Boswell, and Major C. E. Averett.
