(2) Obituary, Unknown Newspaper, Unknown Date: Death Due to Pneumonia. Mrs. Mary A. Hale, wife of James T. Hale, died at the family residence on West Calhoun street Monday morning at two o'clock of pneumonia following an illness of two weeks. The deceased was born in Chariton county 62 years ago. She was a daughter of the late Judge Patton and moved with the family to Livingston county when a girl, settling in Jackson township, where she was married to Judge Hale, moving to Chillicothe about 10 years ago. The husband and two children, Mrs. Fred Sapp, San Francisco, and Mrs. Henry Snyder, Salt Lake City and an adopted son, Clarence, survive. Judge Hale, who has a ranch in New Mexico, arrived home Sunday night and with the adopted son, was at her bedside when the end came. No definite arrangements have been made for the desceased, awaiting word from the daughters. (3) According to Mary J.'s death certificate and obituary, she was born in Chariton County, MO. However, she is consistently listed in censuses as having been born in IN.
