      AWARDED BRONZE STAR

      Private Irvin LaMar Pfeiffer, 22-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence E. Pfeiffer, Route 1, Mentone, Indiana was recently authorized by the War Department to wear a Bronze Star on his Asiatic-Pacific Campaign ribbon indicating his participation in the occupation of the Marshall Islands. He enlisted in th armed forces July 23, 1942, and was assigned to overseas duty August 23, 1943.

      Oct. 30, 1921 - March 17, 2001

      I. LaMar PFEIFFER, 79, died at 6:45 a.m. Saturday at his Logansport home. Born in Nappanee to Clarence Edwin and Myrtle MORWEISER PFEIFFER, he married Jean E. WELLS March 15, 1947 in Logansport. She survives. Mr. Pfeiffer retired as a supervisor at S.U.S. Die Cast Products after 37 years. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942, served in World War II and was honorably discharged in October of 1945. He was awarded the Bronze Star in the Pacific Campaign in 1943. He was commander of American Legion Post 60 from 1965-66, and a member of Eagles Aerie 323. Surviving with his wife, at home, are two sons, Stephen L. [PFEIFFER] and wife Carol, Logansport, Jeffery L.[PFEIFFER] and fiance Suzie FULMER, Logansport; four grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; two brothers, Donald Edwin PFEIFFER, Rochester, Lowell Eugene PFEIFFER, Homosassa, Fla.; five sisters, Doris GRASS, Rochester, Helen DeMIEN, St. Charles, Ill., Betty Jane DeMIEN, Rochester, Marilyn June MILLER, Elkhart; Mary Joan THARP, South Bend. Preceding in death were his parents and one son, David LaMar PFEIFFER. Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fisher Funeral Chapel, 1801 Chase Road, Logansport. Burial is at Bethel Cemetery, Logansport, with American Legion military rites. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
