      Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Pfeiffer of Mentone, who celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Sunday, were honored by a carry-in dinner given in their home. Homemade ice cream and cake were served in the afternoon to the following guests: Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Grass and daughters, Plymouth; Mr. & Mrs. Don Pfeiffer and family, Rochester; Mr. & Mrs. LaMar Pfeiffer and sons, Logansport; Mr. & Mrs. Fred DeMien and family, St. Charles, Illinois; Mr. & Mrs. Eugene Pfeiffer and family also of St. Charles, Illinois; Also Mrs. Wallace DeMien and daughters, Tippecanoe; Mr. & Mrs. Keith Miller and family, Elkhart; Miss Joan Pfeiffer and Miss Lillian Henye of South Bend.

      CLARENCE EDWIN PFEIFFER

      Clarence Edwin Pfeiffer, 70, R. R. #1, Mentone, died at 4:25 p.m. Friday (01-17-1969) at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester, following a serious illness of two days. A farmer, he was born May 5, 1898 near Nappanee to Henry and Lydia Barth Pfeiffer and had lived at his last home for 30 years, going there from Tippecanoe and Etna Green. He was married January 29, 1918 at Plymouth, Indiana to Myrtle Hanes Morwiser, who survives. Also surviving are three sons: Donald Pfeiffer, Rochester; LaMar Pfeiffer, Logansport; and Eugene Pfeiffer, St. Charles, Illinois; five daughters: Mrs. Fred (Helen) DeMien, of St. Charles, Illinois; Mrs. Betty DeMien, Rochester; Mrs. Keith (Marilyn) Miller, Monroe, Ohio; Mrs. Lloyd (Doris) Grass of Plymouth; and Miss Joan Pfeiffer; one brother; Ernest Pfeiffer, Wakarusa; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Kindle, Kalamazoo, Michigan; 21 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Two brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.

      Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday at King Memorial Home, Mentone, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m.; Monday, with Rev. Elmo Junior Bose, pastor of the Bethlehem Baptist church, officiating. Burial will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rochester, Indiana (01-17-1969).

      Clarence E. Pfeiffer, 70, of Rt. 1, Mentone, died at 4:25 p.m. Friday in Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester, where he had been a patient two days. He was born May 5, 1898, near Nappanee and lived here the past 30 years, working as a farmer. He was married June 29, 1918, to Myrtle Morwiser in Plymouth. She survives with three sons, Donald of Rochester, LaMar of Logansport, and Eugene, of St. Charles, Illinois; five daughters, Mrs. Doris Grass of Plymouth, Mrs. Helen DeMien of St. Charles, Ill., Mrs. Betty DeMien of Rochester; Mrs. Marilyn Miller of Monroe, Ohio, and Miss Joan Pfeiffer of South Bend; a brother, Ernest, of Wakarusa, and a sister, Mrs. Ethel Kindle, of Kalamazoo; 21 grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday in the King Memorial Funeral Home, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday. Rev. Elmo Bose, of the Bethlhem Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the International Order of Oddfellows Cemetery, Rochester.
