Her first name appears to be written as Magdalene in the 1870 census, but is listed as Magdaline in the index to the 1870 census. It is difficult to read her name as written in the 1880 census, but her name is listed as Mayrela SHOTT in the index to the 1880 census. Depending upon which census you believe, she was born in OH or Germany. (2) A household headed by Maydrela SHOTT is listed in the 1880 census of Washington Township, Kosciusko County, IN, near a household headed by her ex-husband, Silas PERRY. [Note by compiler: The census enumerator's handwriting is difficult to read, and the compiler is not certain that he has read it correctly.] Maydrela is listed in the 1880 census as a divorced housekeeper who was then 40 years of age; therefore, according to the 1880 census, she was born in about 1840. According to the 1880 census, she was born in Germany, and both of her parents were born in Germany. Listed with Maydrela is her daughter, Allice PERRY, who was then 16 years of age; therefore, according to the 1880 census, she was born in about 1864. According to the 1880 census, she was born in IN, her father was born in OH, and her mother was born in Germany. Also listed with Maydrela is Eman HACKER, a carpenter who was then 24 years of age; therefore, according to the 1880 census, he was born in about 1856. According to the 1880 census, he was born in IN, and both of his parents were born in Germany.
