      Philip Knight, the immigrant ancestor, was an early settler at Charlestown, Massachusetts. As early as 1637 his name appears in the list of inhabitants. He owned a house lot and operated a ferry, for which lands were granted to him in 1651. He removed to Topsfield, Massachusetts. His wife Margery was admitted to the Charlestown church, May 7, 1650. He died in 1665. Children: Jonathan, born 1642, died January 17, 1738, married, March 31, 1663, Ruth Wright; Philip . . . ; Rebecca, 1651; Elizabeth, 1655; Mary, 1657.

      (2) Lamont, Belle Eldredge, Lamont-Eldredge family records, Albion, NY: 1948, p. 138:

      Philip Knight, imigrant ancestor, was a cooper, and was a citizen of Charlestown 1637. He died according to Savage Genealogical Dictionary Nov. 1668 and his will, dated Sept: 23, 1665, names his widow Margery and children, Jonathan, Philip, Rebecca, Elizabeth, and Mary, ages given as 26, 23, 17, 13, 11.
