      John [French], a tailor, married March 23, 1659, in Salisbury, Mary Noyes (d. of Nicholas) of Newbury. They lived in Salisbury where they were members of the church in 1687. He received land in Salisbury in 1654 and in 1676 saw military service and served on the trial jury. John died in Salisbury May 4, 1706, and his widow Mary died there September 5, 1721.

      i. John, b. Dec. 12, 1660, lived in Hampton NH. His first wife Lydia d. Feb. 15, 1709, and he m. (2) Elizabeth Scott in Hampton Dec. 8, 1709. He took the oath of alleg. in Salisbury Dec. 1677. John d. Feb. 20, 1718, and his wid. Elizabeth admin. his estate Nov. 9. Two sons.

      ii. Mary, b. June 12, 1663; m. Dec. 14, 1683, in Salisbury, Joseph Eaton; 10 chil. b. there.

      iii. Hannah, b. Aug. 9,1665; d. Sep. 13, 1665.

      v. Sarah, b. Dec. 27, 1669; unm. in 1719.

      vi. Edward, b. July 20, 1672; m. June 16 , 1702, Jane True (d. of Henry) in Salisbury; and (2) Sept. 19, 1716, Mary Dalton. Edward was a soldier in March 1698, sent to Haverhill, and in 1719 was admitted to the Salisbury church; 6 ch.

      vii. Abigail, b. May 6, 1675; m. Dec. 20 , 1699, in Salisbury, Ens. Henry True; 7 ch.

      viii. Nicholas, b. Oct. 28, 1677; d. May 3, 1699.
