      (2) A household headed by John LINCH is listed in the 1830 census of Morgan Township, Butler County, OH.

Listed in John's household are 2 free white males between 5 and 10 years of age; 1 free white male between 10 and 15 years of age; 1e free white male between 30 and 40 years of age; 2 free white females under 5 years of age; 1 free white female between 15 and 20 years of age; and 1 free white female between 30 and 40 years of age.

Assuming that John is the free white male listed in the 1830 census as then being between 30 and 40 years of age, he would have been born between 1790 and 1800, according to the 1830 census.

Assuming that John's wife, Elizabeth (THRAILKILL) (FROST) LINCH, is the free white female listed in the 1830 census as then being between 30 and 40 years of age, she would have been born between 1790 and 1800, according to the 1830 census.

Assuming that the rest of the persons in John's household are children of John and/or Elizabeth, those children would have consisted of two sons (one of which sons would have been born between 1815 and 1820, and one of which sons would have been born between 1820 and 1825, according to the 1830 census) and three daughters (two of which daughters would have been born between 1825 and 1830, and one of which daughters would have been born between 1810 and 1815, according to the 1830 census).

The two sons are probably William FROST (born July 16, 1818) and John FROST (born July 28, 1821). One of the daughters is probably Louisa Penthesilea FROST (born April 3, 1824), although she would not have fit into any of the age categories listed.

      (4) A household headed by John LYNCH is listed in the 1840 census of District Township 68, Range 4 West, Lee County, IA.

Listed in John's household are 1 free white male between 0 and 5 years of age; 1 free white male between 5 and 10 years of age; 1 free white male between 15 and 20 years of age; 1 free white male between 20 and 30 years of age; 1 free white male between 40 and 50 years of age; 1 free white female between 5 and 10 years of age; 1 free white female between 10 and 15 years of age; 1 free white female between 15 and 20 years of age; and 1 free white female between 40 and 50 years of age.

Assuming that John is the free white male listed in the 1840 census as then being between 40 and 50 years of age, he would have been born between 1790 and 1800, according to the 1840 census.

Assuming that John's wife, Elizabeth (THRAILKILL) (FROST) LYNCH, is the free white female listed in the 1840 census as then being between 40 and 50 years of age, she would have been born between 1790 and 1800, according to the 1840 census.

Assuming that the rest of the persons in John's household are children of John and/or Elizabeth, those children would have consisted of four sons (one of which sons would have been born between 1810 and 1820, one of which sons would have been born between 1820 and 1825, one of which sons would have been born between 1830 and 1835, and one of which sons would have been born between 1835 and 1840, according to the 1840 census) and three daughters (one of which daughters would have been born between 1820 and 1825, one of which daughters would have been born between 1825 and 1830, and one of which daughters would have been born between 1830 and 1835, according to the 1840 census).

Since John LYNCH and Elizabeth (THRAILKILL) (FROST) LYNCH were not married until sometime after April 3, 1824, and since only two sons are known to have been born of the marriage between John LYNCH and Elizabeth (THRAILKILL) (FROST) LYNCH, the two sons who were born before 1825, according to the 1840 census, were probably born of the marriage between Elizabeth and her first husband, Isaac FROST; and these two sons were probably William FROST (born July 16, 1818) and John FROST (born July 28, 1821). Moreover, since John LYNCH and Elizabeth (THRAILKILL) (FROST) LYNCH were not married until sometime after April 3, 1824, the daughter who was born before 1825, according to the 1840 census, was probably born of the marriage between Elizabeth and her first husband, Isaac FROST; and this daughter was probably Louisa Penthesilia FROST (born April 3, 1824).

      (5) On December 1, 1841, a land patent was issued to John LYNCH, covering a 160-acre tract of land in Lee County, IA. The tract consisted of the W ½ of the NE ¼, and the E ½ of the NW ¼ of Section 7, Township 68 N, Range 3 W. The compiler believes that the patentee was probably our John Lincoln LINCH, although at the time of the 1840 census, he apparently lived in Township 68 N, Range 4 W.

      (6) A household headed by John FINCH is listed in the 1850 census of Division 28, Lee County, IA. [The compiler believes that John FINCH was really John LINCH.]

Listed with John is his wife, Elizabeth, who was then 55 years of age; therefore, according to the 1850 census, she was born in about 1795. According to the 1850 census, she was born in VA.

Also listed with John is his daughter, Nancy, who was then 18 years of age; therefore, according to the 1850 census, she was born in about 1832. According to the 1850 census, she was born in "I," which may have been the census enumerator's abbreviation for Indiana.

Also listed with John is his son, Moses, who was then 16 years of age; therefore, according to the 1850 census, he was born in about 1834. His birthplace is not listed in the 1850 census.
