Orval J. Stookey
Orval J. STOOKEY, 64, Peru, C. and O. railroad freight conductor and native of Fulton county, was dead on arrival at Dukes Memorial hospital at Peru at 2 a.m. today. He moved from Kewanna to the Miami county seat in 1941. A member of the Peru E.U.B. church he was active in the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen lodge.
The son of Harry and Matilda BOOK STOOKEY he was born on the Fulton county line April 11, 1902. He married Bernice THOMME[N] in August 1928 who survives.
Survivors include his mother who resides in Rochester; two daughters, Mrs. Kennard TAYLOR, Jr., Fort Wayne and Mrs. Bernard BUTT, Valporaiso; a son, Donald E. STOOKEY, Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Hilda MARONEY, Logansport and Mrs. Ernest BECKER, Fulton. Two sisters, one daughter and a brother preceded.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Drake-Flowers funeral home at Peru with the Revs. Paul STEELE and John DAY officiating. Burial will be at the Fulton cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Thursday.
