      43. JACOB W. VROOMAN (6 Wouter), bp Aug. 24,1717, m May 29, 1743, Rachel Van Woert, b 1724, dau of Nicholas Van Woert and Dirkje Barheit. On July 15, 1749, Rachel Vrooman, wife of Jacob Vrooman, was received as a member of the Dutch Reformed Church at Schoharie. In 1750 Jacob Vrooman was one of the deacons of the Church of Schoharie.

      139. WOUTER, bp Nov. 4, 1744, d Feb. 17, 1817. He married Jacomytje Barheyt, dau of Johannes Barheyt and Cornelia Pootman. He was CAPTAIN WALTER JACOB VROOMAN of Revolutionary fame.

      143. ADAM, b Aug. 16, 1753. Adam Vrooman, when a young man, left Schoharie during the Revolutionary War and espoused the cause of the King. He was the original Vrooman--Adam the First of Canada. In a letter written by Soloman Andrew Vrooman, a grandson of the original settler, to his son, Dr. Walter Roselle Vrooman who lived in Clyde, N.Y., Soloman Andrew stated that his grandfather, Adam Vrooman,left a brother Walter, in Schoharie. Adam d Jan. 8, 1810. He m Margaret DePeyster Mattice.

      144. ISAAC, bp Apr. 17, 1758. In 1834 Isaac Jacob Vrooman made application for a pension stating that he had served during the Revolutionary War in Capt. John F. Wendell's regiment in the company commanded by Col. Wynkoop. He had enlisted May, 1776. He was a second cousin of Col. Peter Vrooman. About 1809 he had left Normanskill, now called Albany, and had gone to the western part of the state, later traveling over Ohio and Michigan purchasing furs from the Indians. For forty years, he stated that he had had no family or any permanent place of abode. He was unable to learn the present existence of any of his companions in service, but among her father's papers, Catherine Wendell found a receipt dated Sept. 25, 1776, for 5 pounds 8 pence for pay as a private from July 1, to Aug. 31, signed by Isaac Jacob Vrooman. His pension was No. 32089.
