Ann "Duckworth" Durham Spears
Birth: Apr. 24, 1814
Death: Jan. 29, 1879

Age 64y 9m 5d

1st husband was William or Pleasant Duckworth, married 1834
1st husband, died bef 1850
2nd husband was Andrew Spears, married before Oct 1850

Nov 30 1834 Marriage License in Morgan County, Indiana, Pleasant Duckworth and Anna Durham were married.

1840 Census in Morgan Co., IN shows 1 male about the age of Pleasant and 1 female the age of Ann, as well as a male child under 5, which would be her son Elijah's age and 1 female child under 5, the age of her daughter Margaret.

Family agree with the below information, but there is some disagreement regarding her 1st husband Duckworth.

1850 Census Ann is in Newton Co., MO married to Andrew Spears, with her children Elijah, Margaret Marilda, Cythia Ann and Nelson Duckworth. Andrew has 3 children of his own (ages verify they would not have been Ann's. Ann & Andrew had a daughter after the 1850 census, records show she was born abt 1852.

1860 Census Ann is in Newton, MO with her children Cynthia Ann, Nelson and Nancy. All Children are listed under the Spears surname.

1865 Census Ann is in Linn, KS with her children Nelson, Margaret Marilda, (who is now married to George Dickinson), Margaret's 3 year old daughter Lorraine, Cythia Ann, (who is now married to Paul Anthony), and Cythia's 3 year old daughter, Ann Anthony. Neither Margaret or Cynthia's husband's were present, it is believed that were away fighting the Civil War.

1870 Census Ann is living in Kosciusko, IN with her daughter Margaret & son-in-law George Dickenson and their 3 children; Lorraine, John P and Margaret Ann Dickenson.

She died 9 years later, 29 Jan 1879 in Claypool, Kosciusko, IN.

Ann Blackburn Reynolds
Birth: Apr. 28, 1750
Death: Feb. 16, 1827

Ann Blackburn Reynolds was the wife of John Francis Reynolds of Wilkes County, NORTH CAROLINA (DAR patriot A210119, he is listed as "Francis Reynolds," civil and patriotic service). Ann Blackburn Reynolds is thought to be the daughter of Ambrose Blackburn and Hannah Ashley but this needs further study.

The will of Ann's husband, Francis Reynolds, was presented in court October 1803 (Will Book 2, pp 99-101). In it, he named his "beloved wife Anne" as one of the executors along with his brother Elisha Reynolds and James Welborn. He also mentions most of his children by name and his son-in-law Reuben Parks. Francis Reynolds's will specifically states the full name of "my youngest son Elzy Baker Reynolds." (See memorial for Elzy Baker Reynolds also found in Decatur Cemetery, Dekalb County, GA and two of his infant children.)

The children of Francis and Ann (Blackburn) Reynolds are thought to be:

• Hannah (married Reuben Parks)
• John Ashley Reynolds Sr.
• Ann Reynolds Patton
• Lois Elizabeth (married Isaac H Robinette
• William Elisha
• Mary (married John McCord)
• Sarah Evaline (married George Tomlinson)
• Jenkins
• Silas
• Martha "Patsy" (married James Galbraith)
• Elzy Baker Reynolds
• Nancy (married Samuel Sale)

The estate papers of Francis Reynolds indicate the estate was divided as called for in the will but there were problems especially with the inheritance of Patsy which I assume were resolved satisfactorily. One paper calls James Patton and Mary McCord to be a witness at court in Wilkes Co NC. At some point after the estate was settled, Ann (Blackburn) Reynolds moved to Georgia with her youngest son Elzy Baker Reynolds. His grave marker indicates he served in the War of 1812 while still in NC, joining from nearby Buncombe County, so it seems likely he and his mother Ann/Anne did not move to GA until after 1812. They were in GA by 1820 which is indicated by the Wilkes County, GEORGIA record of Elzy's first marriage to Susan Welborn. (Many thanks are given to swangirl for transferring this memorial and pictures of the gravemarkers to me.)

To date, I have not verified the location of the grave of John Francis Reynolds (husband of Anne Blackburn Reynolds) nor very many of their children. . . .

Anna Joransson Sanders
Birth: Apr. 14, 1840, Lyngby, Lunds kommun, Skåne län, Sweden
Death: May 5, 1879, Murray, Salt Lake County, Utah, USA

THE TWINS

Anna Joransson was born 14 April 1840 in Lyngby, Malmohus (Skane Lan), Sweden, a twin to her sister Botilda Joransson.

Anna and Botilda were the first in their family to be converted to the Latter Day Saints faith, in August 1855. Anna and Botilda's parents were subsequently converted and the entire family began to be pressured for having left Lutheranism, the state religion of Sweden.

With her parents and siblings, and her father's brother Jons and family, Anna immigrated to the United States. The family left Sweden in October 1855, traveling first to Denmark, then to England. They left Liverpool, England on December 12, 1855, traveling on the wooden three-masted ship "John J. Boyd". They arrived at New York on February 18, 1856, then traveled to Keokuk, Iowa, where they worked for a year to acquire funding to complete their journey to the Utah Territory.

While they were in Keokuk, in 1856, Anna's twin sister Botilda married the Swedish missionary who had baptized their parents into the LDS church, Lars Nils Larsson. Sadly, Botilda died of illness shortly after, and her widower Lars Larsson married Anna and Botilda's first cousin Pernella Jonsdotter/Jonsson.

A VARIETY OF SURNAMES

The family members' names on the ship's New York passenger list were spelled by the clerk as "Soran Joransen" with "Karna, Peter, Botille, Anna, Elna, and Jens" also given Joransen as their surname.

Their names were further changed during their stay in Iowa, where Joransson became Jorgensson, and then finally Yorgason. Anna was married and had changed her surname to that of her husband's before her family's surname was changed to Yorgason.

HER OFFSPRING

She married Sondre Ostensen Bakka Sanders aka Sondra Sanders on December 1, 1857, at Salt Lake City, Utah. Three of their children died in infancy: Osten/Austin (1858), Joseph (1862), and Sarah Caroline (1865).

At her death in May 1879, Anna left eight children:

• Anna Matilda Sanders, age 19
• Sondra Sanders Jr., age 18
• Orson Sanders, age 16
• Heber Soren Sanders, age 11
• Peter James Sanders, age 8
• George Albert Sanders, age 5
• Mary Ellen Sanders, age 3
• Harriet Rosalia "Rose" Sanders, age 1½ months

The children were then cared for by the eldest daughter, Anna Matilda Sanders. Even after Anna Matilda Sanders was married in 1881, the youngest child, Rose, was still cared for by her eldest sister.

Anna Joransson Sanders' husband, Sondra, was remarried on December 1, 1881, to a younger woman also named Anna, and he had two more children with his second wife.

Anna Ursula Ritz Goldman
Birth: 1675, Landkreis Alzey-Worms, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany
Death: 10 May 1748 (aged 72-73), Tulpehocken Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania, USA
Burial: Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Stouchsburg, Berks County, Pennsylvania, USA

[Note by compiler: Berks County, PA did not exist until March 11, 1752, when it was formed from Lancaster, Philadelphia and Chester Counties, PA.]

Anna Ursula Ritz (c. 1675-1748), was a daughter of Jois Ritz, a "citizen Bermerheims." She married Johann Conrad Goldman (c. 1664-c. 1712), a widower, on 25 November 1700, at Gundheim, Germany. Around 1709, they and their five chiidren left Germany and went to Holland, the first part of a migration that led to their arrival in New York in the summer of 1710. Apparently, two of the children died at sea, because a list of those in the Palatine camp at Hunterstown, east bank of the Hudson River, New York dated 4 July 1710, lists the Goldman family with two adults and three children. By about 1717, Anna Ursula is listed as Widow Goldman, with three children. (I think perhaps the oldest son had left, because I believe there was a son born around 1711.) Around 1724, the Goldman family, along with a number of other Palagine German immigrants, left New York and went to Pennsylvania at the invitation of PA's Governor Keith.

"Conrad's widow Anna Ursula never married again. Unusual during her lifetime. She raised her 4 or 5 children (Three of which were boys) alone on land that was allotted to the Goldman family in the Tulpehoken Settlement of Pennsylvania by Governor Keith. The orginail 150 acres is located 2 miles northwest of the Reformed church in present day Jackson township, Berks and Lebanon county line. Just east of Myerstown. They did not travel with the first group to Tulpehoken Settlement but followed soon after 1723. It is not know if the land was noted to the widow Goldman or her son Conrad when he was of age to own the land. (Incident at Tulpehoken by Francis Jennings, Christ Lutheran Church Records)" from a family tree found online.

And from the same source, "The Rev. Johann N. Kurtz of Christ Lutheran Church, Wosendorf record her death by this entry; Buried Old Mrs. Goldman today." While the site of her grave is not definitely known, it seems likely she was buried here. (Her youngest son had helped lay the conrnerstone for the church buidling in 1743.)

I believe the children of Johann Conrad Goldman and Anna Ursula Ritz were:

1. Jacob Goldman (c. 1701-1750) m. Mary Abigail Brown, d. Augusta Co., Virginia in August or Sept. 1750.

2. Conrad Goldman, Jr. (c. 1702-c. 1755)

3. Mary Goldman (c. 1703-c. 1778) m. Frederick Starnes (c.1700-c.1775) and went to Virginia.

4. Unknown child, died at sea, c. 1710

5. unknown child, died at sea, c 1710

6. unknown child, born & died NY 1710/11.

7. Johan George Goldman (c. 1712-1820), went to North Carolina, died in Indiana at the age of 108.

Benjamin F. W. Parker
Birth: May 13, 1788, Elbert County, Georgia, USA
Death: May 19, 1836, Limestone County, Texas, USA

BENJAMIN F. W. PARKER

The third son of Elder John Parker and Sarah "Sallie" (White) Parker.

Benjamin's first marriage was to Patsy "Sally" Stewman in Tennessee. To this union was born a son, Benjamin Parker, Jr. According to family records, Sally Parker died during child birth or shortly after the birth of Benjamin Junior.

His second marriage was to Susannah (Robertson) Parker. They were married December 11, 1812 in Sumner County, Tennessee by David Wilson, Bondsman. To this union was born twelve children.

Parker History in Illinois

The Parker Families mirated as a unit from Georgia to Tennessee in 1803, and from Tennessee to Illinois in 1819.

Benjamin Parker, built the first log cabin, and thus became the first actual settler in Coles County, Illinois. That cabin was built on the east bank of the Embarras River.

It has been said, "The first apple orchard in Coles County was set out about 1830 by Benjamin Parker."

Benjamin first came to Texas in early Spring of 1833 with brothers, James, Daniel and Joseph to explore and consider the new country for settlement, but decided not to make the move the permanent move. In the fall of 1835 after the death of his wife Susannah, in Illinois, Benjamin left nine of his thirteen children in the care of his brother Nathaniel, while he again came to Texas to seek a new beginning. Accompanied by his father, Elder John Parker and his wife, Sarah Parker the former Mrs. Duty.
Elder John Parker's group settled near the headwaters of the Navasota River, and built a fort for protection against Native Americans. Fort Parker was made about two miles west of present-day Groesbeck, Limestone County, Texas, by Elder John Parker (1758-1836), his sons, Benjamin, Silas and James, plus other members of the Pilgrim Predestinarian Baptist Church of Crawford County, Illinois.
On May 19, 1836, Fort Parker was attacked by several hundred Caddo, Comanche and Kiowa. They killed several of its inhabitants.

Benjamin F. W. Parker was one of the five that was killed during the Indian raid. He is buried under an oak tree in a mass grave, approximately one and one half miles from the fort. Today, the area is known as the Fort Parker Memorial Park, and many relatives of the families are interred there too.
